DARPA issues broad agency announcement for RADICS research

DARPA issues broad agency announcement for RADICS research.
The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) has issued a broad agency announcement for research in rapid attack detection, isolation and characterizations systems (RADICS).

DARPA anticipates that approximately $77 million will become available to fund several contract awards in five technical areas. Submissions should be submitted to DARPA through an electronic system at baa.darpa.mil by Thursday, Feb. 11, 2016, at noon.

The RADICS development would be focused in relation to preventing or mitigating the disruption of U.S. electrical power grids. Prolonged interruption of this kind would pose significant threats to society and to economic stability of the country.

The five technical areas include: situational awareness, network isolation, threat analysis, provisions of testbeds and sandbox testing and system evaluation and exercise coordination. DARPA stated that one award is possible for the latter two technical areas. The majority of awarded contracts will fall under the first three technical categories.

For submission purposes, proposals will need include company information and a point of contact, what the proposed project consists of and what it aims to accomplish. Cost information, management and technical planning will need to be detailed.

Those submitting a proposal should also provide evidence of their organization's or company’s experience in this area.
