FEMA announces open emergency management specialist position.
The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) is seeking an emergency management specialist to serve as a situation unit leader.

The job announcement states that the location would be negotiable once a candidate is selected. For this position, U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain a government credit card and pass a public trust background investigation are required.

This person’s primary tasks include the reporting of incident information and data to planning section chiefs and carrying out situational awareness activities. This position will ensure organization of the situation room in any disaster or incident response mission and will be charged with analysis of data associated with emergency and incident management -- including situational developments. The chosen person will also develop and prepare information collection plans.

This position requires at least one year of experience at the GS-07 level of government work or an equivalent position. Candidates will also be expected to have specialized experience in many areas including: developing and managing others through reports and other documents, coordinating with government partners at multiple levels and being able to identify critical information as related to information collection plans. A master’s degree or equivalent will also fill this requirement.
