Registration opens for PHEMCE 2016 Stakeholders Workshop

The Public Health Emergency Medical Countermeasures Enterprise (PHEMCE) has announced that registration for its Stakeholders Workshop will close Friday, Dec. 11.

The workshop will take place at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) Natcher Conference Center in Bethesda, Maryland, on Jan. 6 and 7, 2016. This workshop will focus on progress that has been made and future directions in areas relating to stockpiling and development of drugs, vaccines and other countermeasures and devices.

The workshop is split into four in-depth tracks focusing on federal initiatives and progress, operational capacity and utilization efficacy, industry partnerships and emerging infectious diseases. There will also be plenary sessions.

The PHEMCE is the coordinating body for federal efforts in preparation efforts against threats of emerging infectious diseases and chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear (CBRN) threats.

Topics that will be covered include: updates on influenza and other respiratory pathogens, information on the Middle East Respiratory Syndrome virus (MERS), revisions of medical countermeasure requirements, biological safety and security. There will also be focus toward clinical guidance associated with countermeasures and challenges, concerning post-market data for safety and efficacy of approved countermeasures under the animal rule and information regarding the Strategic National Stockpile.
