Battelle National Biodefense Institute to receive U.S. Army contract extension

Battelle National Biodefense Institute to receive U.S. Army contract extension.
The U.S. Army Medical Research Acquisition Activity (USAMRAA) announced Tuesday that it intends to award a contract extension to the Battelle National Biodefense Institute (BNBI).

This contract is to transition and maintain services relating to management and operation of the National Biodefense Countermeasures Center (NBACC). The extension will cover a six-month period.

The USAMRAA states that any firm that is capable of providing the same services as the current awardee are invited to submit a notification and a statement explaining the capabilities of the organization or entity. These responses should be submitted via email to Julie Burns (juliea.l.burns3.civ@mail.mil) or Phil Huff (philip.h.huff.civ@mail.mil) by Thursday, Dec. 10.

There is no guarantee of a change in contract award and the decision to not complete the proposed contract extension with Battelle is solely at the government’s discretion.

The extension would be served in two three-month periods and will close June 19, 2016. If finalized, BNBI will continue to manage and transition services for the NBACC and Federally Funded Research and Development Centers (FFRDC), located in Frederick, Maryland.

The NBACC is focused on research and development of countermeasures against biological threats.
