FEMA announces open emergency management positions
The emergency management specialist position will be based in Maynard, Massachusetts, at the FEMA Region I Recovery Processing Center. This position will be tasked with managing public assistance components essential to federal responses to disasters and other emergencies declared by the president. This position will serve as the lead staff member for the regional closeout program following emergencies that transition to regional jurisdiction.
This person will also be expected to prepare project worksheets that will facilitate additional and de-obligate funds. This person will also conduct on-site training for public assistance personnel.
This position requires one year of working experience at the GS-11 level of government work or equivalent with specialized experience in implementing public assistance grant programs.

The national incident management assistance team leader is based in Sacramento, California. This position will be responsible for leading teams that are tasked with disaster assistance to survivors and local and state governments. In most cases, this person serves as the incident federal coordinating officer (FCO) and will work to establish the federal presence at a disaster site.
This person will be tasked with management of relations with the media and community of the affected area. This position will take part in planning, training and exercise activity in relation for regional and national disaster operations, assistance and preparedness efforts.
Candidates for this position will need to obtain Executive Core Qualifications and will need to demonstrate their ability in leadership, building effective coalitions and managing resources including staff and finances. Technical requirements include expertise in emergency management programs and disaster response and being able to manage large-scale operations spanning different geographic locations relating to emergency management.
