PFPA announces Pentagon-based explosives investigator position
This position is currently open to current and former Civilian Federal Employees within the competitive service and displaced employees located in the local community area. This position will also accept individuals that meet Special Appointing Authorities approved by the Office of Personnel Management, primarily candidates that have previously served in the military.
This position is tasked with the conducting of investigations of post-explosive scenes in order to determine the type of explosive and providing sworn testimony for explosives and arson-related investigations. This position also serves as a liaison to law enforcement, fire services and public safety officers.
This position is also expected to respond to emergency situations involving explosives and unresolved alarms at checkpoints involving hazardous and explosive devices.
This position requires at least one year of working experience at the GS-11 level of government work and must have specialized experience involving criminal investigations for violations of federal explosives and arson laws and experience as a professional training liaison with state and local bomb squads, canine detection units or military Explosive Ordnance Disposal units.
Candidates will be evaluated on their knowledge of improvised explosive devices, skills with developing, conducting technical seminars and courses and skill in emergency response operations.
