FEMA seeking contract and IT specialists.
The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) announced openings for contract specialists and a supervisory information technology (IT) specialist on Thursday.

In the opening for contract specialists, an unreported number of positions are available at the Emmitsburg, Maryland, office.

This position will be tasked with oversight over contracts and procurement activities, as well as any issues associated with these areas. This person will be expected to take on multiple contract-related tasks including awarding, administering, negotiation and, if necessary, termination of contracts. This person will monitor payments to all contractors related to the Emmitsburg office; the position is also charged with the evaluation of contractor performance.

This position requires either a bachelor’s degree in any field or a minimum of 24 semester hours in an area related to accounting, finance, law, contracts, purchasing and economics. This position also requires specialized working experience with identifying guidelines and requirements for contract awarding or procurement, the preparation of solicitation documents, negotiating with contractors and analyzing proposals. This experience should come in the form of a position at the GS-11 level of government work or equivalent.

This position’s application window will close on Nov. 6 or when 200 submissions have been received.

The supervisory IT specialist will be based in Washington, D.C.; the position requires top security clearance. Supervisory IT specialists also serve as directors of subordinate organizations.

In this position, the specialist will plan, direct and coordinate customer support directorate activities. This person will also take on the coordination of special projects and collaboration with senior staff members to ensure support plans are interoperable. This position is also expected to take on analysis roles and will be asked for recommendations in new areas.

For this position, one year of working experience at the GS-14 level of government service or equivalent is required. Experience should include management of end-user computing systems and local area network services. Experience in leading meetings with senior leadership and presenting briefs to high-level managers is preferred. IT-related experience is required.
