FEMA announces open IT, financial specialist positions

The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) is hiring an information technology (IT) specialist and a financial management specialist.

The IT specialist position will be based at their Washington, D.C., office and will be tasked with the coordination of technical vulnerability testing and network assessments. The specialist will also be expected to provide technical input and document information relating to the increased understanding of security incidents and serve as a project manager in long-range plans for IT security systems that will conduct regular threat and vulnerability assessments in order to determine if and where changes are needed.

A viable candidate must have experience with IT security systems as well as an understanding of IT principles, methods and standards of practice and at least one year of work at the GS-12 level of government service or an equivalent position.

This application window closes on Oct. 22 or when 200 submissions have been received.

The financial management position location is negotiable and will serve as the Finance and Administration Section Chief tasked with technical and managerial aspects. This specialist will ensure funding requirements are met and achieved, oversee delivery of mission essential services and manage the Cost, Training, Procurement and Human Resources units so that mission essential services are delivered.

Requirements for this position include at least one year of work at the GS-12 level of government or equivalent with extensive experience and knowledge of fiscal practices, theory and management of financial operations.

This position will close on Oct. 18 or when 200 applications have been received.
