Bellevue seeks outreach, vulnerable population specialist.
The City of Bellevue, Washington, has an opening for an outreach specialist and vulnerable populations specialist within their Office of Emergency Management and Bellevue Fire Department (OEMBFD), with an application window that closes Sept. 10.

This position has a limited term of three years. This position is largely responsible for the development and implementation of outreach programs, policy and procedures in order to minimize property damage and injuries and fatalities in a disaster or emergency situation.

Other responsibilities that fall within position include the writing of news releases, flyers and other printed materials that promote preparedness among individuals and families. Utilizing statistics this portion of work aims to increase awareness of preparedness procedures and best practices. This position will also be expected to coordinate with other areas within the city and regional emergency management agencies in order to support vulnerable populations and their readiness efforts.

This position requires a minimum of two years of working experience in emergency management, community organization or other related positions; candidates should also have experience with training members of the public. This position requires an associate's degree or higher in an area related to emergency management, communication or administration.

Candidates should also have experience in an area relating to risk analysis, emergency operations, hazard mitigation and recovery operations.

Candidates with knowledge of hazards specific to the Pacific Northwest, along with those with knowledge of incident command systems and emergency and recovery support functions, will be given preference.
