National Academies seeking health sciences policy program officer.
The Institute of Medicine within the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering and Medicine announced an opening for a program officer to serve on the board on Health Sciences Policy on Friday.
 
The program officer would be tasked with the management and development of projects and programs taken on by the institution with some oversight from a senior program officer. This position will supervise staff, ensure that programs meet their objectives and be responsible for the strategy and budget development for programs and projects. This person will be expected to assemble panels and committees and will act as a liaison between members of staff and the National Academies.

For this position, candidates will need a master's degree or higher level of education in an area related to public health or emergency management. This position requires a minimum of three years of related work experience in a professional environment. Candidates should be able to convey scientific and technical information relating to policy in a written form and they should have an extensive knowledge and understanding of this information relating to public health and emergency management.

Candidates should have strong program management skills and should be able to work collaboratively with others in the department. Candidates should also be able to interact with diverse audiences.
