University at Buffalo seeks senior emergency planning coordinator
This position is tasked with the coordination of multiple areas relating to emergency management and planning, including communication, training and operations. This person will provide information specific to an emergency situation or event relating to preparedness for the campus community, and will also offer recommendations for improvements and performance evaluation.
During an emergency situation this position will lead emergency management teams through the phases of response and management and will be expected to be able to work with agencies at the state, city and national levels.
This position requires a bachelor's degree, preferably in an area related to emergency management. This position also requires a minimum of five years experience in a field related to emergency and incident planning within an academic institution, governmental agency or an industrial complex. A master's degree may take the place of two years of working experience. Candidates should be familiar with incident management principles and operations of fire, emergency medical services and law enforcement personnel.
Candidates with experience in Federal Emergency Management programs, including the National Incident Command and the Incident Command System are desired.
