Osceola County seeks emergency mangement planner

The Osceola County Emergency Management Department in Florida posted a job opening Tuesday for an emergency management planner.

The emergency management planner will be tasked with the coordination and development of several different emergency management plans that would facilitate procedures before, during and after an emergency or disaster situation. This will include mitigation plans, continuation of operations, accreditation and others.

This position will also be expected to provide support in operational, logistical and other planning areas for the county within emergency-management related areas.

Candidates are required to have a bachelor's degree in a field relating to planning, emergency management, administration and emergency services. Candidates will also need at least three years of working experience in a position relating to emergency management, training or exercise design.

Certification from a state, national or international emergency management association is preferred, specifically from the Florida Emergency Preparedness Association (FPEM) or the International Association of Emergency Management. FPEM certification will become required within four years of employment. Candidates must also be able to obtain a Florida driving license.

Candidates should have a strong knowledge of local, federal and state laws and regulations relating to emergency management and knowledge of the comprehensive emergency management planning process.
