Duke seeks health care preparedness coordinator

Duke University Hospital has an opening for a health care preparedness coordinator, they announced in a recent job posting.

This position is charged with the coordination and support of the development of emergency management programs at the hospital. This person will provide guidance and consulting on departmental- or organizational-level emergency plans and will be expected to evaluate policies and procedures when the need arises. This position will be expected to work with agencies at the state and local level and will participate in tasks forces, committees and other groups that will manage emergency response activity.

In an emergency or disaster situation this person will be charged with the coordination of operations and resource allocation and will provide overall support to response and recovery efforts. This position will also develop and design emergency preparedness exercises and educational programs.

For this position candidates will need a bachelor's degree and at least four years worth of working experience in a health care management, project administration, disaster management or other related capacity. Two years of supervisory experience is required within or on top of the four year requirement.

Preference will be given to those with a master's degree or those with project management experience.

Certification in emergency management, emergency medical services, fire services, risk management, hazardous material management or other related area are also desired.
