Washington, D.C. seeks emergency program coordinator
This position supports the agency's emergency management programs through technical means and works to ensure that the district government's plans are within compliance with federal law, specifically the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), the D.C. Human Rights Act and the Rehabilitation Act. This will include determining which approaches and methodologies are most effective. This person will also be involved in the public information process assisting in the creation of publications and notifications that meet the functional needs of those within the disabled community.
This position is also expected to participate in community outreach and other network building activity with the public and organizations representing those with disabilities.
Candidates with a bachelor's degree in an area related to administration will be given preference. Candidates are required to have a minimum of three years of working experience relating to implementation of accommodations and compliance measures and should be familiar with the district and federal laws relating to accommodation for individuals with disabilities, including the ADA and Human Rights Act. Candidates should also provide evidence of their leadership, communication abilities and their familiarity with Microsoft Office programs.
