Dallas seeks emergency management mitigation specialist
This position is responsible for the management and development of hazard mitigation for the Dallas area that fall in-line with the Disaster Mitigation Act of 2000 and with the National Flood Insurance Program's (NFIP) Community Rating System. This includes evaluating current mitigation plans and capabilities, and utilizing data into plans and other related documents.
This position also serves as the primary representative for any Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) mitigation projects, and will be tasked with the design and conducting of Emergency Action Plan exercises.
Candidates must hold a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in an area relating to emergency management, public administration, public safety or homeland security. Candidates also need a minimum of four years of emergency management work. Further education in the form of a master's degree will substitute two years of working experience. Those with certification as an emergency manager will be given preference.
Candidates will need to be able to communicate effectively, and to be able to analyze and adopt effective actions based on the situation.
This position is expected to maintain effective working relationships with organizations and agencies.
