The recent NCT Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear and Explosive (CBRNe) USA 2015 conference that brought together industry experts and other stakeholders was considered a success, organizers said Tuesday.

The conference that took place at the end of April at the Sheraton Reston Hotel in Washington, D.C., was co-organized with the National Consortium for the Study of Terrorism and Responses to Terrorism (START) and featured leading CBRNe researchers and many leading individuals in the defense and CBRN specific communities. The event also included live demonstrations of new technology capabilities.

Attendees were also able to gain insight from first response personnel from the Fairfax County, Virginia. Fire and Rescue Department and other hazardous material response teams (HMRT).

Other topics that were covered at the two-day conference included threat reduction activity from the State Department and legislative and regulatory measures that relate to nuclear terrorism prevention.

The NCT CBRNe conference series is a global event that takes place in multiple regions on an annual basis, these include sessions in Europe, the Middle East, the U.S. and in Southeast Asia.
