The city of St. Paul, Minnesota, is accepting applications for an emergency management coordinator.
All applicants are required to have a bachelor’s degree in public safety, emergency management, public administration or similar field and four years of experience in professional emergency management and homeland security. All applicants must have experience working above or at the level of an emergency planner or program coordinator. They must also demonstrate experience in delivering and creating training programs. Interviewers will consider applicants with a wide range of experience and education.
The job responsibilities include assisting with development and implanting the city’s Emergency Operations Plan, Disaster Recovery Plan, Hazard Mitigation Plan, and Continuity of Operations Plan. The appropriate applicant must be willing to perform a wide variety of advanced-level professional work to integrate and coordinate the city’s contingency and emergency planning efforts.
The applicant must coordinate the city’s disaster prevention, planning, response, preparedness, mitigation and recovery programs as well as local, state and federal emergency management and homeland security program requirements, mandates and grant programs.
The chosen applicant will show effective working relationships with various departments in the city, prepared testing, training and coordination skills for volunteer plants, and encourage family, personal, and corporate disaster preparedness.
