Cuban minister shows support for chemical weapons ban

Cuba's Minister of Foreign Relations visited the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) and met with the Director-General Ambassador Ahmet Üzümcü on Tuesday to discuss issues relating to the implementation of the Chemical Weapons Convention (CWC).

Üzümcü gave H.E. Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla an update on the OPCW’s mission to eliminate Syria's chemical weapons program and discussed other initiatives being pursued by the OPCW involving national implementation, international cooperation and assistance and protection. He also thanked Parrilla for his country's contributions to many OPCW activities, such as hosting regional workshops.

Parrilla said Cuba fully supports OPCW and indicated his country is committed to ensuring the future success of the convention.
