American Red Cross seeks disaster program specialist
This program specialist is responsible for the implementation of disaster services within the area when an emergency strikes. This involves leading volunteer teams and participating in preparedness, recovery and response activity. Applicants are expected to have leadership abilities and be able to facilitate the disaster response cycle in coordination with governmental agencies.
The emergency program specialist is also expected to mobilize the local community and develop resources that include volunteer staffing, shelter arrangements and similar agreements.
Candidates should hold a bachelors degree in a related field and three years of working experience in social services or program delivery, including at least six months of leadership or supervisory experience. Candidates should provide evidence of their ability to manage staff or volunteer activity and strong verbal and written communication skills. Experience with Microsoft Office programs should also be noted.
This position is mostly indoors, but there is a possibility of health or safety hazards in the field in a disaster or emergency response situation.
