FEMA seeks public affairs specialist

The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) posted a job opening for a public affairs specialist Thursday.

This public affairs specialist is tasked with assisting in the development of a communication strategy that can include message development, graphic design, multimedia production and layout design. This position will also draft, edit and fact-check written material that can include news and feature articles, public services announcements, social media and other items. This person is also expected to interact with members of the agency, government, news media and the general populace.

This position requires at least one year experience in a GS-7 level position within the federal government or a comparable position in the private sector. Experience can include volunteer work with national service programs such as the Peace Corps as well as other kinds of organizations. Candidates with post-baccalaureate education of at least two years or those with a combination of educational and working experience in a related field are also eligible to apply. Degree fields sought include marketing, law, economics and management.

Veterans, specifically those with experience relating to this position, are encouraged to apply. This position is also eligible for the Interagency Career Transition Assistance Program.
