New Mexico seeks preparedness exercise officer

The New Mexico Department of Homeland Security and Emergency Management (NMDHSEM) is looking to hire a state exercise officer, a recent job posting said.

This position manages the all-hazard exercise program for emergency management and Homeland Security personnel. This person also is expected to provide technical support and other forms of assistance to stakeholders in the development phase of exercise programs. The position also is responsible for the management of pre-exercise activity, preparation and briefings.

Candidates should hold a bachelor's degree in emergency management, public administration or public safety management or a related field, with three years of working experience with emergency management or emergency operations. Candidates should have proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.

Candidates are required to have completed the Incident Command System 100 to 300 courses and the National Incident Management System 700 and 800 courses. Within the first six months, candidates must complete the Federal Emergency Management Agency's Emergency Management Institute Professional Development Series.
