TSA looking to hire supervisory explosives specialist

The Transportation Security Administration is seeking a supervisory transportation security specialist in explosives.

The specialist will be based out of Arlington, Va. The salary for the position ranges from $107,033 to $165,907 per year.

The explosives specialist will serve as a technical expert while reviewing threat information and determining needs to be shared with field personnel throughout the TSA. They will respond to technical questions from the field and headquarters, as well as provide expertise on matters of explosives as they relate to CBRN issues or counter-IED strategies.

If hired, the specialist will also oversee program budgets and resources, major equipment and professional training development. They will also provide management and technical oversight to subordinates and other supervisory activities.

The specialist will be required to travel during 25 percent or greater of his or her duration of employment.

Candidates for the position must have graduated from an accredited IED/bomb disposal course coupled with field experience as a civilian or military EOD technician or hazardous devices technician. Other specialized experience required includes providing program management and leading operations in a security environment and serving as a technical expert on methods and technologies of explosives.
