CDC seeks interdisciplinary supervisory general engineer and physical scientist

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is looking to hire an interdisciplinary supervisory general engineer and physical scientist

The salary for the position, which will be based out of Bruceton, Pa., is between $117,096 to $152,224 per year.

If selected, the candidate will participate in developing program policy and directives at the Technology Evaluation Branch at the National Personal Protective Technology Laboratory. The engineer and scientist will also advise the division director about policy, standards development and programmatic directions as they relate to protective equipment for workers.

The general engineer and physical scientist will also issue NIOSH certificates of approval to national and international respirator manufacturers, as well as represent the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health worldwide on respiratory certification and development.

To qualify for the position, candidates must have a bachelor's degree that provided significant engineering and physics education, as well as one year of specialized experience in the field.

As the position is supervisory, applicants are asked to describe previous responsibilities that could be used in relation to the supervisory aspects of the general engineer and physical scientist position.

A background security check is required for all appointees. A one-year probationary period may be required for the selected candidate.
