FEMA seeks federal preparedness coordinator

The Federal Emergency Management Agency is looking to hire a federal preparedness coordinator.

The position, which is located in Atlanta, Ga., has a salary range of $120,034 to $156,043 per year.

If hired, the federal preparedness coordinator will manage large transformations in organizing, integrating and coordinating preparedness activities and investments on behalf of FEMA. They will lead federal interagency coordination across states and regions in with local, state and tribal agencies, as well as the private sector.

The coordinator will also review and rate personnel performance, interview and select key subordinates, settle employee grievances and provide necessary training.

Candidates for the position are expected to have knowledge of the laws, regulations and policies related to national preparedness, incident management and critical infrastructure protection, as well as skill in leading and managing a preparedness, risk management or public health and safety program.

One year of specialized experience at the GS-14 level is also required for the federal preparedness coordinator position.

The federal preparedness coordinator will be expected to occasionally travel, although the position may require candidates to deploy with little or no advance notice to anywhere in the U.S. or its territories for an extended period of time.
