FEMA seeks two emergency management specialists

The Federal Emergency Management Agency is looking to hire two emergency management specialists.

The salary for the positions ranges from $90,561 to $117,729 and the emergency management specialists will be based out of Chicago, Ill.

The emergency management specialists will manage various public assistance components of FEMA that are required for a rapid federal response to presidentially-declared disasters and emergencies. They will also establish and maintain contact with counterparts in various local, state, federal and voluntary agencies and organizations.

If selected, the candidates will also conduct reviews of project applications and supplements for conformity to regulations and eligibility criteria for funding requirements.

Qualifications for the positions include one full year of specialized experience at the GS-12 level demonstrating planning, directing and/or management of disaster field operations. Knowledge and experience with the management and leadership of organizations within the context of disaster operations, as well as knowledge of general construction concepts and experience with construction project management are also required for the positions.

Candidates for the positions must be U.S. citizens and pass a background investigation. The emergency management specialists will be required to travel up to 70 percent of their duty time.
