Smiths Detection provides products for G7 Summit security
The company supplied the EU Commission with hand-held detectors to identify chemical agents, explosives and radiological threats. The EU Commission worked with the EU Council to provide security for the world leaders who attended the summit.
Security personnel at the summit used Smiths Detection's handheld MMTD multi-threat detectors, RadSeeker radiological detectors and SABRE 5000 explosive detectors.
"Our range of detection technologies meant we were well placed to respond to this request for systems to detect a variety of potential threats," Ian May, the vice president of Smiths Detection's Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA) region, said. "The products provided added confidence for the security forces charged with protecting national leaders at one of the most high profile events this year. This followed our effective support at the EU-Africa Summit in April, also in Brussels, highlighting the strong relationship we have developed with the European Commission as a partner in the activities covered by the recent EU Commission communication on the detection of CBRNE threats."
Smiths Detection offers security solutions in military and civil markets throughout the world, developing and manufacturing technology products to detect and identify explosives, biological and chemical agents, radiological and nuclear threats, contraband, and narcotics.
