SAFER Systems releases smartphone emergency response app

Chemical emergency response product developer SAFER Systems recently released its SAFER Mobile Response app for tablets and smartphones.

The app integrates the 2012 Emergency Response Guidebook (ERG2012) with the functions of Google Maps, Google Traffic and weather updates and live weather forecasting to aid first responders and emergency services personnel at the site of a hazardous materials incident.

SAFER Mobile Response is intended to help responders plan their way to the scene and identify at-risk municipal amenities.

"First responders the world over recognize the ERG2012 as a trusted source for initial protective information and response guidance," SAFER Systems President Allen Edmond said. "We've taken that static, printed information and brought it to life in the more easily accessible environment of smartphones and tablets. SAFER Mobile Response converts the ERG protective distance charts into visual hazard zones and identifies key points of concern at risk using Google Maps and Google Places."

The SAFER Mobile Response app is available on iTunes or the Google Play store.

SAFER Systems software has been used in chemical facilities worldwide for more than 30 years. The company, which has won numerous awards, uses full weather station and gas sensor data with algorithms to support source location.
