Rho hires new employees to support contracts

Rho Federal Systems Division, Inc., a contract research organization that was selected for a contract by the Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Authority in March, plans to hire two dozen new employees.

Tara Gladwell, the vice president of operations for Rho, said the company has added approximately three dozen employees since the beginning of the year. She said the company has benefited from an influx of new customers, in addition to repeat business from existing customers, NewsObserver.com reports.

Rho has 371 employees and gets approximately half of its business from the federal government.

Rho was one of five companies selected to design and conduct clinical trials to develop medical countermeasures. BARDA provided the companies with a minimum guarantee of $400,000 over the first two years, with options to extend the contract for up to five years and a maximum value of $100 million. BARDA develops diagnostics, drugs and vaccines to protect against health emergencies and bioterrorism.

Gladwell said Rho's 24 open positions include entry-level jobs, clinical research associates, senior project managers and a vice president of operations.

"Hopefully, in the next two to three months, we'll have these positions filled," Gladwell said, according to NewsObserver.com.

Rho helps drug companies test experimental drugs and analyze the results.
