Telecom companies to demonstrate first public safety LTE network

Mutualink, Inc., Comprehensive Communication Services and CTS Consolidated Telecom Services will visit the 2014 Texas Emergency Management Conference (TDEM 2014) on May 12-15 to demonstrate the nation's first public safety LTE network.

The three telecom companies will demonstrate the Public Safety LTE Band 14 broadband network, showing TDEM 2014 attendees how on-demand interagency communication and information will be achieved across the network. The demonstrations are the result of work conducted by Google, Mutualink, CTS, Comprehensive Communication Services and the leaders of Harris County, Texas, HSToday.us reports.

"The future has arrived on-scene for first responders and emergency support agencies," Mike Wengrovitz, the vice president of innovation for Mutualink, said, according to HSToday.us. "Private LTE helps liberate responders by providing guaranteed broadband connectivity, which in turn allows for innovative and important applications to be delivered to the field. Smartphones and wearable computing devices with multimedia and information-aware applications will rapidly augment the legacy land mobile radio dominated environments."

The demonstration will utilize multiple fixed and mobile locations throughout Harris County and nationwide through Mutualink's interoperable communications platform. The platform enables secure on-demand communications and multimedia information sharing among local, state, and federal government agencies and infrastructure entities.

"Enabling situational awareness on the ground and at command/control points in real time will vastly enhance overall emergency response," Wengrovitz said, according to HSToday.us. "Mutualink sees the future and is helping bring about next-generation technologies that will empower our first responders and make them safer. Mutualink's capabilities are effective, affordable, and available today - and they integrate seamlessly into current and future FirstNet deployments."

TDEM 2014 will take place on May 12-15 in San Antonio at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center.
