The State of Washington Military Department is hiring a state exercise program manager to work full-time in Pierce County, according to a hiring notice posted on Thursday on iaem.com.
The manager would work under the direction of the exercise and training section manager. They would manage the State Exercise Program and offer support building preparedness through exercises at local jurisdictions.
The person hired would develop, coordinate and implement a multi-year state training and exercise plan. Through training and exercises, they would increase state preparedness and disaster recovery.
The manager will be a proponent for state standards in compliance with Homeland Security Exercise Evaluation Program. They will be the designated professional to provide management support, leadership and coordination of resources for Military Department preparedness activities.
The person in this role will provide direct support, technical assistance and expertise to stakeholders inside and outside the agency.
Qualified applicants will have two years of experience as an emergency management program specialist or a bachelor's degree with four years of experience in emergency management, financial management, public information or planning.
Ideal candidates will have two years of demonstrated experience in program management, exercise design, development, control and evaluation, as well as overseen training programs.
Applicants must have an understanding of adult learning theories, standard concepts and procedures.
