Arkansas Tech to host 2nd annual preparedness conference

Arkansas Tech University's Department of Emergency Management recently announced that it will host the second annual Conference on Preparedness and Recovery on April 9.

The conference will feature emergency managers from throughout the region. Featured speakers include Stan Supinski, an associate professor at the Homeland Security Management Institute at Long Island University, David Maxwell, the director of the Arkansas Department of Emergency Management, and Sen. Mark Pryor (D-Ark), a member of the Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs.

Other speakers include Steve Recca, the director of the University and Agency Partnership Initiative for the Naval Postgraduate School Center for Homeland Defense and Security, Shelia McGee, the director of the Faulkner County Office of Emergency Management, and Jan Kallberg, an assistant professor at Arkansas Tech University.

Arkansas Tech was the first school in the world to have its degree programs in emergency management accredited by the Foundation on Higher Education in Disaster/Emergency Management and Homeland Security. The school's Department of Emergency Management seeks to increase learning and knowledge in emergency management by providing outstanding teaching, scholarship and service for the university and community.
