Emergency management coordinator sought by Maine Medical Center

The Maine Medical Center is seeking an emergency management coordinator in Portland, Maine, according to a hiring notice posted on Tuesday on iaem.com.

The full-time, first shift position will report to the hospital's director of emergency management.

The individual hired for the position will have primary responsibility for facilitating the planning, implementation and post-implementation phases of strategic projects for the department, the hospital and participating regional hospitals. The emergency management coordinator will determine appropriate measures to evaluate progress and implementation to make improvements to MMC systems. These changes are meant to benefit MMC patients, families and staff.

The person hired must possess experience with the development of hospital-wide emergency preparedness-related training programs, management of comprehensive hospital emergency management plans and interpreting and managing initiatives and projects related to the Joint Commission Hospital Emergency Management Standards. The coordinator also requires expertise in developing, coordinating and executing large-scale hospital drills and hazard vulnerability analyses.

Qualified candidates must have a bachelor's degree in a related field, with a master's degree and additional training in Certified Hospital Emergency Manager and Hospital Incident Command System certification preferred. Candidates must also have five or more years of project management experience, a high level of interpersonal skills, a high level of analytical and critical thinking skills, excellent oral and written presentation skills, highly developed organizational skills and highly developed negotiation skills.
