Orange County seeks emergency management coordinator
The emergency management coordinator will oversee the Orange County All-Hazard Emergency Operations Plan and the Orange County Hazard Mitigation Plan for the development, conduct and coordination of the county's disaster and emergency preparedness exercises. The position reports directly to the director of emergency services and is expected to work independently and follow guidelines and regulations set by relevant emergency management organizations and governing bodies.
The coordinator will be responsible for the development of emergency preparedness exercises, maintenance and implementation of emergency response, relief, recovery and mitigation processes and providing consulting and leadership during times of emergency.
The person hired will direct the county's Emergency Management Program and stay informed on new procedures, trends and practices. They will also enhance existing emergency response strategies, plans, procedures and policies.
The coordinator position will be responsible for partnering with neighboring counties, the North Carolina Emergency Management agency and the Federal Emergency Management Agency by attending seminars, conferences, meetings and trainings to ensure proper protocol is updated and adhered to.
