West Virginia Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Management recently appointed Terrance "T.D." Lively its new public information officer.
"Mr. Lively has done an outstanding job through the current water crisis as Public Information Officer," DHSEM Director Jimmy Gianato said. "I am confident he will do an outstanding job serving the state."
Lively has been the radiological emergency preparedness state coordinator for the past five years, and served as an emergency services associate. Before working at DHSEM, Lively was an office assistant in the West Virginia State Fire Marshal's office, and worked as a public information officer during the 2012 Derecho, Superstorm Sandy and the 2014 Water Crisis.
"I am honored to serve as Public Information Officer for the Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Management," Lively said. "I am looking forward to working with Director Gianato to communicate a message of public preparedness for disasters and important emergency information in response to disasters and recovery from disasters."
The DHSEM public information officer position had been vacant for three years.
The division coordinates with other government agencies to manage disaster preparedness, mitigation, response and recovery throughout the state. The agency reports to the Department of Military Affairs and Public Safety.
