Everett Fire Department offers CERT classes
The class will begin on March 19 and run through May 7. This is not the first course to be held in the Everett community - more than 570 community members have participated in the Everett CERT program to date, HeraldNet reports.
The course will take place each Wednesday evening from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. over the course of eight weeks. All Everett residents and business owners are strongly encouraged to participate in the course to increase overall community preparedness in the event of a disaster or emergency.
The CERT program was designed to teach residents basic emergency response and first aid skills to empower them to properly handle an emergency if professional responders are not immediately available. Participants will be trained on a number of skills, including disaster planning, fire safety, first aid and more, according to HeraldNet.
Participants will be responsible for purchasing basic equipment, but the course is offered free-of-charge to all interested persons. Class size is limited, and the Everett Fire Department asks that all interested parties apply now.
