Rep. Elizabeth Esty visits Smiths Detection

Rep. Elizabeth Esty (D-Conn.) visited Smiths Detection on Nov. 7, in Danbury, Conn., and talked to employees about the importance of technology and innovation.

Esty said to more than 130 employees at Smiths Detection that sustained growth in technology and innovation is critical for the economy both in Connecticut and the United States.

She also thanked the business for its contributions to keeping military and first responders safe.

"We appreciate Congresswoman Esty visiting our facility and seeing first-hand how our employees contribute to both the security of our country and our local economy," Danbury Site Head Paul Delvisco said. "Smiths Detection has consistently invested in facilities like Danbury to offer innovative security and safety solutions, training and service. These help protect our fellow citizens and support the continued free flow of trade so critical to economic growth."

Smiths Detection designs, develops and manufactures a range of products to identify explosives, chemical agents, biohazards, radiation, narcotics, weapons and contraband that support the military, Department of Homeland Security, Department of Defense and emergency responders.

Esty was elected to Congress in 2012, and serves on the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee and the Committee on Science, Space and Technology.
