Smiths Detection launches compact detection unit HI-SCAN 6040-2is

Smiths Detection launched a new, a new compact dual-view X-ray inspection system, called the HI-SCAN 6040-2is, on Monday that can fit within small spaces and has powerful explosive detection capabilities.

The unit weighs less than 850 kilograms, can fit through doors as small as 900 millimeters and can penetrate up to 35 millimeters of steel. The compact unit was designed to fit in small spaces, but doesn't compromise on quality or power. It has both normal and high resolution cameras, can operate independently from the X-ray machine and can detect explosives and illegal items, such as knives or guns. It can be installed in nearly any location, including airports, hotels, government buildings and any other locations at risk.

"The HI-SCAN 6040-2is is set to cause a stir in the market," Smiths Detection Senior Vice President Global Sales Ian May said. "The combination of a compact footprint and high quality features such as excellent image quality and outstanding penetration, offers an affordable and adaptable system ideal for the global markets."

Smiths Detection is known for advanced security solutions for both military and civil markets around the globe.
