Foreign Minister of China Wang Yi discusses CTBT with Lassina Zerbo of CTBTO
China was the first country Zerbo decided to visit after recently taking office at the CTBTO. Wang told Zerbo that he appreciated this fact and commended the CTBTO for the creation of the Comprehensive Nuclear Test Ban Treaty.
Wang said the treaty serves a lead role in the control of international arms and the non-proliferation system, and that the treaty has helped increased cooperation between international parties to prepare for treaty implementation.
Wang told Zerbo that China would always uphold the treaty and would help expand its influence and popularity in the hopes of achieving world peace and security. Zerbo thanked Wang for his support of both the Preparatory Commission and of his new leadership role.
Zerbo said he is committed to developing a stronger bilateral, practical cooperation with China during his term and will enjoy the process of expanding the confines of the CTBTO to continue to promote world peace and security. Zerbo also said China is one of the organization's most important relationships.
