Prime Minister of External Relations of Brazil visits OPCW

The Minister of External Relations of the Federative Republic of Brazil H.E. Antonio de Aguiar Patriota met with Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons Director-General Ambassador Ahmet uzumcu on Thursday.

Patriota was escorted by senior staff of Brazil during the trip. They met with uzumcu for a meeting in the Technical Secretariat in The Hague to discuss matters of the Chemical Weapons Convention.

uzumcu informed Patriota and his senior staff on the status of incorporating the CWC, including chemical stockpile destruction, the status of achieving universality of the CWC and the OPCW's activities for capacity expansion. uzumcu also explained to Aguiar the results of the Third Review Conference in April and how they would affect the OPCW moving forward.

uzumcu commended Brazil for supporting the work of the OPCW and committing to the goals of the Convention. Aguiar expressed Brazil's commitment to continue to support and implement both the Convention and the OPCW.
