Anti-terror workshop organized in India

The Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India and the National Investigation Agency organized a workshop in India Wednesday regarding Terror Financing and the Implementation of section 51A of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act.

Special Secretary at MHA Shri S. Jayaraman inaugurated the workshop to address matters of terrorism. A wide range of anti-terrorism organizations were also present, to discuss how to address the matter in India and within the international community at large.

The central focus of the workshop was to acknowledge the severity of terror finance, as without funding, terrorists are not able to execute acts of terror. Jayaraman urged a necessity for conducting investigations to find the sources of funding for terrorist groups.

Jayaraman said with determination, long-pursued investigations do prove successful. He also acknowledged recent amendments of the UA(P)A, which empowers all police forces to protect the country against terrorism via legislation.

Methods for offsetting terrorism were discussed by the attending parties, as well as additional challenges India faces. To succeed in opposing the recent rise in terrorist regimes in the country, they hope to be able to call upon the international community for help.
