CATSA establishes five-year standing order with Morpho Detection Inc.
Morpho Detection is the division of Safran's security unit responsible for developing explosive and narcotic detection systems. The agreement with CATSA stipulates that Morpho will supply high, medium, low-speed and over-length explosive detection systems to revamp the current baggage screening processes.
The first shipment from Morpho will be delivered this year to Canadian airports. Eight CTX 5800 and four CTX 9800 DSi detection systems will be sent in the first delivery of the order.
"We are thrilled that CATSA has recognized the CTX line of EDS as having the capabilities to meet their needs for next-generation passenger checked baggage screening," Brad Buswell, president and chief executive officer of Morpho, said.
The CTX 5800 and CTX 9800 both meet European Union standards and have been certified and approved by the U.S. Transportation Security Administration and the European Civil Aviation Conference.
Morpho is the world leader of personal rights and flow management applications based on biometrics. The company also develops devices that provide identification, e-document and detection solutions, as well as secure terminals and smart cards.
