Smiths Detection opens new training center in U.S.

Smiths Detection, a threat detection technology provider, announced on Monday that it completed its Training & Service Center for the Americas at its Edgewood, Maryland-based U.S. headquarters.

The facility will allow the company to provide improved product training and service capabilities for customers in North and South America, allowing customers to maximize the use of systems developed by Smiths Detection for security purposes.

"Smiths Detection is the world's leader in threat detection technologies because of our unparalleled commitment to give all customers the best technology solutions plus the follow-up training and support they need to use them most effectively," Jeff Dobek, the company's Edgewood site head, said. "Our investment in this state-of-the-art facility underscores that commitment to our customers across the Americas."

The 10,400 square foot facility is meant to educate and service customers from North, South and Central America. The service and training will focus on the full range of the company's chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear, explosives and X-ray technologies. The facility will provide customer and technical support in English and Spanish and is already handling more than 7,000 customer inquiries per month.

Smiths Detection designs and creates advanced solutions to the detection and identification of CBRNE threats. Major Smiths Detection customers include the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and the Department of Defense.
