Camelbak debuts CBRN-resistant water system

CamelBak Products, LLC has announced that their Chem Bio Reservoir X, a line of hydration safety equipment, has met the United States Army’s strict requirements for a multi-purpose personal hydration system during a biological or chemical incident.

Thed hydration system has the ability to stand up to six hours of chemical challenge after a month of use, allowing users to stay hydrated in a potentially lethal environment.

The CBR X combines several technologies, including CamelBak’s DuraFlex Barrier, HydroLink modular attachment systems and the HydroGuard technology to enable users to have hands-free access to drinking water in challenging circumstances. The hydration system may be an ideal fit for law enforcement, HAZMAT, military, homeland security and emergency personnel faced with biological and chemical threats.

“We design, test and manufacture our hydration systems to perform in the most challenging and lethal environments in the world,” Sally McCoy, CEO of CamelBak, said.

The company released its first biological and chemical resistant reservoir in 2000, which allowed people to remain hydrated while wearing protective masks and related clothing. While not endorsed by any Department of Defense agency, CamelBak hydration systems are used by units and individuals in all U.S. military services, Naval Special Warfare, tactical units in DHS agencies and the U.S. Army Special Forces.
