Sandia seeks senior emergency planner
This position is expected to serve as the lab's Emergency Operations Center coordinator, or associate coordinator with the Emergency Management Coordinator, in the case of an emergency. This person will develop plans and procedures to be used when an emergency situation arises in cooperation with other staff members. This position also handles line management and staff and interacts with external associates, including government officials and other emergency management and law enforcement personnel.
Applicants for this position should hold a bachelor's degree within a related discipline and should have experience of up to two years in emergency management or a related field. Further education in the form of a master's degree may be used in place of entry level experience. Preference is given to individuals with law enforcement or military experience, specifically in emergency management or response applications.
Preference will also be given to applicants who show evidence of their ability to develop and maintain plans and procedures, with the ability to conduct training and field exercises.
Candidates should provide evidence of their knowledge and abilities relating to emergency planning. Such knowledge should include information about the U.S. Department of Energy and its Comprehensive Emergency Management System, excellent communication skills, building evacuation, Sandia's response policies and legal requirements for response and planning.
