The Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) announced on Thursday that Randy Fraser has been awarded the National Nuclear Security Administration's (NNSA) Security Professional of the Year award for 2014.

Fraser is employed by the LANL Security, Safeguards and Emergency Response Directorate, as a program manager for the Strategic Security Infrastructure program.

“It is both an honor and privilege to be recognized by our NNSA customer with this award,” Fraser said. “I also want to thank each member of Los Alamos’ Security, Safeguards and Emergency Response Directorate staff. It is due to the quality and integrity of those professionals that made this award possible. I simply had the good fortune to be in a leadership position during a difficult project.”
The award signifies the winner's commitment to enhancing national security and exemplifying the NNSA's mission ideals and the highest quality of service to the public. Fraser was specifically recognized for his leadership on the infrastructure program.

“For more than three years, Randy provided the security construction verification lead for a $250 million security construction contract," Michael Lansing, acting associate director of operations and business at LANL, said. "Working with countless laboratory and headquarters stakeholders, Randy ensured the completed system would protect special nuclear material. In addition, Randy led the local effort to craft a comprehensive After Action Report to NNSA that will be used in years to come.”
