MacLeod to head U.K. delegation to OSCE

The U.K. Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) said Tuesday that Sian MacLeod will head the country's delegation to the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) in Vienna.

MacLeod is replacing Dominic Schroeder, who was appointed to another department, MacLeod will hold the rank of ambassador rank. Her appointment will begin in August.
"It is an honor and privilege for me to be appointed head of the U.K. delegation at this time," MacLeod said. "The OSCE sits at the heart of efforts to resolve the Ukraine crisis and over the coming months and years will have an important role to play in strengthening security and stability in Europe."
MacLeod has been with the FCO since 1986 and previously served as the ambassador to the Czech Republic and within the U.K. Embassies in Moscow, Vilnius in Lithuania and the Hague in the Netherlands. Her focus in the FCO has been on Eastern Europe and international security.
"I look forward to working with international partners to uphold and promote the principles upon which the OSCE is founded and to which the U.K. is strongly committed," MacLeod said. "I will be working for the greatest possible OSCE success in preventing and resolving conflict, supporting rights and freedoms, and building strong, healthy societies so that all Europeans may enjoy sustainable peace and security."
