Strategic Command hosts ITWAA conference
Adm. Cecil Haney, commander of U.S. Strategic Command, led the forum to allow assessment and recommendations to improve defensive forces including submarines, intercontinental ballistic missiles, bomber forces and troops.
“The ITWAA stakeholder’s conference is important given the critical role tactical warning and attack assessment plays in our strategic enterprise and in 21st-century deterrence,” Haney said. “The goal for this forum was to focus on assessment of the strategic warning mission executed by USSTRATCOM and NORAD, and the leaders from all of the commands present are instrumental in accomplishing our global mission.”
Hanley was joined by other military leaders including commander of Air Force Materiel Command Gen. Janet Wolfenbarger, commander of the North American Aerospace Defense Command and U.S. Northern Command Adm. Bill Bortney, commander of Air Force Space Command Gen. John Hyten, acting Chief Information Officer Terry Halvorsen, and North American Aerospace Defense Command Deputy Commander Canadian Lt. Gen. A.J. Parent.
U.S. Strategic Command reported that members of the 223rd Space Communication Squadron MILSTAR were awarded the 2014 Department of Defense Chief Information Officer Nuclear Command, Control and Communications Team Award.
