FEMA seeks training specialist in Maryland

The Federal Emergency Management Agency is looking to hire a training specialist at its office in Emmitsburg, Maryland, a USAJobs.com posting on Thursday said.

Basic requirements for this position include U.S. citizenship and the ability to pass a background check. Candidates may be asked to take a drug test, and male applicants born after Dec. 31, 1959, must be registered with the Selective Service.

This position is for a training specialist in the Emergency Management Institute (EMI). Duties include developing program policies and setting goals for the program, as well as evaluating the effectiveness of training programs. The hired candidate also will serve as an authority in effective program recommendation to all levels of government.

The selected candidate also will be expected to serve as an adviser on policy in international affairs relating to EMI training and will be required to review the agency's training programs and translate applicable training to non-agency participants. The candidate also will be expected to participate in conferences and workshops.
Qualifications for this position include one year of work at the GS-13 level within the federal government.

Candidates with emergency management training experience and those with experience working with colleges and universities and in the private sector will be heavily considered. Applicants must be able to provide evidence of the ability to apply research in practice in the daily operations of higher-education emergency management.
