Engility awarded WMD defense-tactics contract

Engility Holdings said on Thursday that it has been awarded a $38 million contract to support a Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA) awareness system for weapons of mass destruction.

The cloud-based Constellation Combating Weapons of Mass Destruction Situational Awareness System provides data and analysis to prevent or protect against WMDs.

“We are proud to win this contract, which expands our work with the team at DTRA,” Engility President and CEO Tony Smeraglinolo said. “The Constellation program will increase our capability for detecting, understanding and forecasting WMD threats, which is a vital component in protecting our nation. We look forward to supporting DTRA on this extremely important mission.”

With increased situational awareness that the system is able to provide, it allows for increased collaboration between different agencies and countries to be able to respond accordingly in case of an attack that uses a weapon of mass destruction.

This contract will last five years and is on a cost-plus-fixed-fee basis. Engility is a government services contractor that specializes in technical support and programming, engineering, business support, logistics management and training, and education of services to agents of the federal government.
