The Maine Emergency Management Agency (MEMA) is accepting online registrations for the Maine Partners in Emergency Preparedness Conference, set to take place April 21 and 22.
The conference brings emergency response professionals, managers, first responders, business leaders and education professionals together. In addition to networking opportunities, participants can glean knowledge from more than 50 different workshops.
In previous conferences, topics ranged from how an institution should respond in the case of an active assailant to what the best practices are in evacuating a hospital or other medical facility.
Topics for the upcoming conference will include management and response in the case of severe weather conditions and its impact. The recent Western New York lake effect snow storm and how emergency teams responded will be analyzed as well. This is in line with the conference's practice of covering topics that are based on recent events in the region or the state.
A preliminary agenda is available on the registration site; it will be updated as the conference date approaches.
MEMA's partner organizations include the State Emergency Response Commission and the Maine Association of Local Emergency Managers.
Registration is open for both participants and exhibitors. There is a $300 charge for exhibitors who do not fall under the non-profit or governmental entities.
